Rudraksha mala made with 108 beads is called a Purnamala. The one with 54 beads
is the Ardhamala, the one with 27 beads is the Nakshatra mala. The mala
(neck-piece) created with a 21 mukhi rudraksha is called the Indra mala, which
is rarely found. While wearing for the first time, the mala made of rudraksha
can be of honey or any other color. Gradually, almost all malas become very
hard and dark due to coming in contacts with sweat containing fat and also
yogaagni present in human body. People living in different parts of the world,
belonging to different religious groups encourage their children wearing Rudraksha
as the Talisman as the protector of health, for better education and other
